Virtus.pro managed a win at the opening of DreamHack Zowie Open Bucharest 2016, defeating Gambit 16-12 on Cobblestone.
The action at DreamHack Zowie Open Bucharest 2016 kicked off with the match between Virtus.pro and Gambit - a matchup that has gone in the favor of the Poles the last six times these teams met.
The Russian-Kazakhstani side took the first three rounds fairly cleanly, but Virtus.pro quickly replied in the gun rounds to take the 5-3 lead on the CT side of Cobblestone.
Rustem "mou" Telepov grabbed the fourth round for his team with four AWP kills, but Gambit's economy was promptly reset as another B-site push failed in the subsequent round.
Virtus.pro took the win in the first match of the tournament
Virtus.pro took a 9-4 lead before Gambit shifted their focus towards the A site, that helped them get to a 9-6 half.
Dmitry "hooch" Bogdanov and co. managed a second round force-buy win after losing the pistol round, but were once again reset as soon as the Poles got their hands on a full buy.
14-8 up, it seemed Virtus.pro had the match in their hands, but Gambit clawed their way back with an eco round win and two clutches from Ivan "spaze" Obrezhan.
The match was getting tight, the scoreline was 14-12 when Jarosław "pashaBiceps" Jarząbkowski rolled back the years and managed to clutch a 1v4 to allow his team to close out the match 16-12
